My Carlsbad series was inspired by explorations of the labyrinthine Carlsbad Cavern in New Mexico. The exquisite cave formations, vast galleries, tunnels and corridors--I find it fascinating to think of all that magnificent natural architecture hidden deep beneath the earth, out of sight and out of mind. Oil and silver leaf on a wood-cradled panel, the edges stained and finished.
